These are just some of the wonders you may discover should you have the courage to go on a safari trail at Daan Viljoen Game Park and enjoy this hilly landscape covered with thorn-scrub vegetation and teeming with wildlife. The Daan Viljoen Game Park is roughly 18 km west of Windhoek, so this very well might be your first contact with Namibia’s wildlife. Sometimes, your journey will take a long time, and before you know it, night is falling. Not a problem., since there are lodgings within the park’s grounds.

Safaris and hikes

You can go on a short car tour of the park, which will give you a quick overall view of the reserve - or you can explore this beautiful scenic park on foot. There are 3 trails to choose from: Wag-‘n-Bietjie Trail (3 km, ending on Stengel Dam), Rooibos Trail (a 9 km walk through the hills) and Sweet-Thorn Trail (an extended 34 km walk through the reserve’s eastern area).

Directions (by car):
Head 18km to the west, taking the C28 route to Walvis Bay. You will find the Game Park on the hills of the Khomas Hochland.
