The famous building dedicated to music was born in a place where it used to be for electric cars to be collected and repaired. It was designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. The work started in 1999, as a result of the city being chosen as European Capital of Culture for 2001. This should have been the year of its inauguration, but only opened in 2005. Despite this delay, this space has become a true architectural reference across borders and an icon of Portugal and the city. This is a space exclusively dedicated to music, but not just for concerts. It also invests in training and artistic creation.
The Casa da Música hosts a wide range program, from classical music to urban music. In addition, there are guided tours every day, giving you the opportunity to see the two main auditoriums, the four thematic rooms and the terrace. Who knows if you will not end your visit at a concert?
