The Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Belgium are a must for anyone that visits Brussels. Here are represented big names in the history of art. Currently they have the main collection of the country.

The museums are formed by four art complexes and they have more than 120 years old.

The Museum of Ancient Art and the Museum of Modern Art are the most visited and they’re in the center of Brussels. The other two museums, Constantin Meunier and Antoine Wiert, have a smaller size and they are located elsewhere in the city.

These centers exhibit works dating from the beginning of the fifteenth century to the present day.

Museum of Ancient Art and Modern Art

Both are on Rue de la Régence 3, in the center of Brussels, and they have thousands of works distributed in beautiful buildings.

The Museum of Ancient Art was created in 1799 and forms the most extensive part of the Museum of Fine Arts. Here you can find works from the 15th to the 18th century.

In the Museum of Modern Art you can observe several works from the nineteenth century to the present day. The pieces are varied and stand out great Belgian masters of the surrealist movement. You may already be curious about the layout of this museum, since it has eight floors underground.
