Located in Oud Zuid, right near the Museum Quarter, the Vondelpark attracts about 10 million visitors a year. Is a 17th century poet – Joost van den Vondel - which gives its name to this recreational space in the middle of Amsterdam.

Frequented by locals and travellers, in the Vondelpark you can enjoy a stroll, whether walking, biking or rollerblading. Practice sports, enjoy the spectacular terraces of restaurants and cafes, or throw in the towel on the grass, next to the lakes, to relax.

Vondelpark is the ideal place to take a break between visits to the near museums, and plan the next place to visit.

With about of 47 hectares in size, the Vondelpark is inspired in the style of english gardens, with small paths and trails, lakes, canals and picturesque bridges, surrounded by the green of the afforestation. One of the highlights is the garden with more than 70 species of roses. If you take the family, the children also have a dedicated space to play.

In the Park happens several cultural and sporting events. In the open air theatre, enjoy from May to September, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, free concerts and shows.

Practical Information

The Vondelpark is located in the centre of Amsterdam near the Leidseplein and Museumplein.

If you want to take public transportations, there are trams to the park. 

For a central place to stay, there are old mansions transformed into beautiful hotels.
