Such national recognition deserves a brief analysis of its history. This homemade bonbon manufactured in Pau, was created as an homage to Henry IV of France. Historians say the monarch had 54 lovers and 27 children. That's why the name "coucougner", which means affection, hug. Certainly, the King would not miss this kind of love.

Talking about the delicious composition of the bonbon, it has toasted almond and chocolate, all wrapped in a raspberry-flavored almond paste and a touch of ginger. Is your mouth watering already?

Practical Information

The confectioner of the Coucougnettes was Francis Miot, who was born in Pau in 1945. Dedicated to his homeland, he stayed there until his death in November 2015.
